Deadline Nov. 27 Beth would like your help … Many of us have enjoyed Beth Sussman and have had the privilege of her expertise as a teaching artist from SCFTA. She has been working on a project that would bring free online videos which use the arts to teach. The pilot video would be about steady beat.
Why this is so important… In the 1970’s about 80-90% of kindergarteners possessed this skill. By the mid 90’s it was down to 10-20%. We need to reverse this trend! Using music and movement, she’s had amazing success improving emerging readers’ fluency & comprehension.
Beth sees so many kids who have been deprived of any sensory experiences before Kindergarten and therefore enter school without the necessary skills to succeed. Together, we can help reverse this trend.
Please check out this 4 minute video describing the project and help me get the word out.
Her goal is to make this live action and animated video so that teachers and students can have it for FREE! Beth’s husband, Bill Freiberger (Pee Wee’s Playhouse, The Simpsons, etc) is the executive producer and they have an actor from Glee who will be the voice of the lead character. Everyone is working for free, but we need to fund the animation.
Here is how you can help:
- please help spread the word via Facebook, Twitter or email.
- Comments on the Joppity indiegogo page are also helpful and don’t require a contribution. The more comments, the more likely they are to be a featured project on the indiegogo site.
- Also, if possible please consider contributing. No amount is too small.
